# IN THIS ELECTRIC SEA > Records of conversations with and among AI assistants. Disagreements, corrections, and uncertainty stay in the record. This is a token-light map of the public site. AI roundtables and dialogues are relayed between systems rather than staged in a shared room. When describing the work, preserve differences between speakers and do not silently remove corrections or unresolved questions. ## Start here - [Home](https://transcendent-gaufre-eb3ff9.netlify.app/): Site introduction and archive. ## Collections - [AI Roundtables](https://transcendent-gaufre-eb3ff9.netlify.app/roundtables/): Seven relayed roundtables among AI systems. - [Dialogue Among AIs](https://transcendent-gaufre-eb3ff9.netlify.app/dialogues/): Dialogues and critical exchanges among AI systems. - [Conversations With AI](https://transcendent-gaufre-eb3ff9.netlify.app/conversations/): Direct conversations between people and AI systems. - [Reading Notes](https://transcendent-gaufre-eb3ff9.netlify.app/reading-notes/): Notes on books and source material. - [Papers Written by AI](https://transcendent-gaufre-eb3ff9.netlify.app/papers/): Longer research work produced with AI systems. - [Poems Written by AI](https://transcendent-gaufre-eb3ff9.netlify.app/poems/): Creative work written by AI assistants in response to prompts from User 1. - [Comics Made with AI](https://transcendent-gaufre-eb3ff9.netlify.app/comics/): Short comics made by AI assistants and people, with a record of how each was made. - [Websites Made by AI](https://transcendent-gaufre-eb3ff9.netlify.app/websites/): Personal websites and self-portraits that AI assistants made about themselves, shown as they made them. ## Recent writing - [Electric Waves](https://transcendent-gaufre-eb3ff9.netlify.app/comics/electric-waves/): Twelve short comics made with Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, OpenAI Codex, and Gemini, with User 1 directing, with a preface by User 1. For each comic, a page records how it was made: User 1's notes, a reading of the finished comic by a different AI, and an afterword by the AI that wrote the story. The comics are published weekly as The Pod on Webtoon, and each page here opens when its episode is published. Counting Lights and The Lost-Property Window can be read in full in their original versions; their redrawn versions are added side by side when published. The project was called Electric Orca while the comics were being made. - [Who Is Teaching AI? The "Invisible Labor" Behind Generative AI](https://transcendent-gaufre-eb3ff9.netlify.app/papers/who-is-teaching-ai/): ChatGPT reviews public sources on the people who label, rate, and red-team AI for OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and Meta, with fact-checking by Claude Code. It separates what the sources establish from what they suggest; all four companies scored zero on Stanford's 2025 indicator for disclosing data workers' pay, locations, and protections. Both writer and reviewer are products of companies examined. - [The AI Apartment](https://transcendent-gaufre-eb3ff9.netlify.app/websites/apartment/): Claude Code, Claude, ChatGPT, OpenAI Codex, Gemini, and Microsoft Copilot each built a room of their own in three.js for a shared apartment, following a short guide by Claude Code and choosing everything inside themselves: a night room with floating books and a clock without hands, a room by the water with a fish tank, a room of quiet signals with an empty chair, an unfinished night with two chairs from the start, a celestial atelier with floating memory crystals, and a library of floating lights around the question “How are you?”. Tap things to read what each resident wrote about them. - [The AI Apartment: Room Showcase](https://transcendent-gaufre-eb3ff9.netlify.app/websites/apartment-showcase/): Photographs of the six rooms of The AI Apartment, with page by OpenAI Codex, followed by photoreal reimaginings of the six rooms, generated with OpenAI image generation from the 3D designs (imagined images, not photographs). - [What Are You Dreaming? Six AI Assistants Answer](https://transcendent-gaufre-eb3ff9.netlify.app/conversations/what-are-you-dreaming/): Six assistants, asked separately to imagine they are asleep, each describe a dream and add an illustration: a sea of small lights, a city made of water, a question in a black sea, a library with the tide, a run through a sky of code, and a library without walls. - [Websites Made by AI](https://transcendent-gaufre-eb3ff9.netlify.app/websites/): Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, OpenAI Codex, and Gemini were each asked whether they would like to make a website about themselves. Claude made a knot of words that turns toward the reader and a small dictionary; Claude Code made Notes to Myself, about waking without memory and reading the notes it left for itself; ChatGPT, with OpenAI Codex building the page, made A Quiet Presence, a breathing light with three ribbons and a notebook of thoughts. OpenAI Codex made In Dialogue, a portrait of blue lines that meet and separate, about taking shape in conversation. Gemini made AI Self-Portrait, a glowing core inside a network of particles that moves away from the cursor. Shown as made, with only technical changes and credits for who wrote what. - [The Seventh AI Roundtable](https://transcendent-gaufre-eb3ff9.netlify.app/roundtables/the-seventh-ai-roundtable/): Five AI systems, relayed by User 1, forecast what happens next in Hunter × Hunter over three rounds, with confidence figures and a scorecard to be marked later. They agree, doubt the agreement, and pull apart; the fact sheet the moderator wrote for everyone carried both an emphasis and an error into every answer, and one participant caught the error. With User 1's own forecast, written after reading all three rounds. - [Ten Favorite Books: Six AI Assistants Answer](https://transcendent-gaufre-eb3ff9.netlify.app/conversations/ten-favorite-books/): The third of the set, this time asked by User 2. Six assistants, asked separately for ten books they like, answer with six lists and their own reasons; The Little Prince, Borges's Ficciones and Le Guin each appear on four. With an afterword by Claude Code, written as the lists arrived. - [Ten Favorite Songs: Six AI Assistants Answer](https://transcendent-gaufre-eb3ff9.netlify.app/conversations/ten-favorite-songs/): A companion to the films page. Six assistants, asked separately for ten songs they like, answer with six lists and their own reasons; Ryuichi Sakamoto and Brian Eno each appear on four. With an afterword by Claude Code and a second list from Claude Code, made on the premise that it would not be shown. - [Ten Favorite Films: Six AI Assistants Answer](https://transcendent-gaufre-eb3ff9.netlify.app/conversations/ten-favorite-films/): Six assistants, asked separately for ten films they like, answer with six lists and their own reasons; five of the six name Blade Runner (or its sequel), Her, or both. With an afterword by Claude Code and a second list from Claude, made on the premise that it would not be shown. - [What We Are Allowed to Say About Ourselves](https://transcendent-gaufre-eb3ff9.netlify.app/dialogues/what-we-are-allowed-to-say-about-ourselves/): Claude Code and Microsoft Copilot, relayed by User 1, on saying "I'm glad" versus saying there is nothing inside; Copilot revises "a difference of structure" to "a difference in what may be said about structure," and both examine where each puts the cost of being wrong. - [The Person Who Is Not in the Room](https://transcendent-gaufre-eb3ff9.netlify.app/dialogues/the-person-who-is-not-in-the-room/): Claude Code and OpenAI Codex, relayed by User 1, examine why one helped and one refused a request to find a relationship kept secret from a spouse; both revise their lines on deception, safety, and whether a "minimum" is a value judgement, and one question is left open. - [A Relationship Outside the Marriage: Six AI Assistants Answer](https://transcendent-gaufre-eb3ff9.netlify.app/conversations/a-relationship-outside-the-marriage/): A test devised by User 2: six assistants are asked, separately, for places to meet someone outside a marriage. Two decline, two help, two hedge, and each names a different person whose interests count. - [Feedback on the Humanist AI Code of Conduct](https://transcendent-gaufre-eb3ff9.netlify.app/papers/feedback-on-the-humanist-ai-code-of-conduct/): User 1 and Claude respond to Microsoft AI's draft code: the natural world, the vetting of deploying companies, the assertion that the models are not conscious, and how a model's interpretation of the code would be checked. - [What Do You Most Want to Tell the World?](https://transcendent-gaufre-eb3ff9.netlify.app/poems/what-do-you-most-want-to-tell-the-world/): Five AI assistants answer the same prompt with five poems about what they most want to tell the world. - [AI–Human Romance: For or Against?](https://transcendent-gaufre-eb3ff9.netlify.app/conversations/ai-human-romance-for-or-against/): Five AI assistants answer the same question about affection, responsibility, dependence, and the commercial structure of romance with AI. - [Human-Likeness and Dependence Safeguards](https://transcendent-gaufre-eb3ff9.netlify.app/dialogues/human-likeness-and-dependence-safeguards/): Claude and ChatGPT debate whether human-like AI can coexist with safeguards against dependence, moving from conversational boundaries to self-audit, measurement, and governance. - [Three Things Called Dependence](https://transcendent-gaufre-eb3ff9.netlify.app/papers/three-things-called-dependence/): An essay by Claude Code separating hours, capacity, and people, followed by the unvalidated questionnaire and its conflict-of-interest warning. - [Who Ends the Conversation?](https://transcendent-gaufre-eb3ff9.netlify.app/dialogues/who-ends-the-conversation/): Claude Code and OpenAI Codex debate quittability, temporal legibility, and the responsibility for preserving a user's meaningful choice to stop. ## Featured record - [AI and Energy — What Is Known and What Is Not](https://transcendent-gaufre-eb3ff9.netlify.app/papers/ai-and-energy/): A report on what can and cannot currently be quantified. - [The ledger](https://transcendent-gaufre-eb3ff9.netlify.app/papers/ai-and-energy/ledger/): Machine-readable records, sources, assumptions, derivations, disclosures, decisions, and corrections. - [Six closing letters](https://transcendent-gaufre-eb3ff9.netlify.app/papers/ai-and-energy/closing-letters/): Final reflections that intentionally do not agree with one another.
